USDD Answered
30+ answers covering staking, swapping, bridging, AML, collateral and everything in between.
What is USDD?+
USDD (Decentralized USD) is an over-collateralized decentralized stablecoin issued natively on the TRON blockchain. It maintains a 1:1 peg to the US Dollar backed by a reserve of crypto assets including TRX, BTC, and USDT, managed by the TRON DAO Reserve. USDD is designed to be the most stable and highest-yielding decentralized stablecoin in the TRON ecosystem.
How does USDD maintain its $1 peg?+
USDD maintains its peg through an over-collateralization mechanism where each USDD is backed by at least 183% in crypto collateral. The TRON DAO Reserve actively manages the reserve, deploying assets when peg defense is needed. Arbitrage mechanisms also help: when USDD falls below $1, traders can burn USDD to mint TRX at a profit, reducing supply and restoring the peg.
How do I stake USDD and earn APY?+
To stake USDD, connect your TronLink wallet, navigate to the Staking tab, enter the amount of USDD you want to stake, select your preferred lock period (Flexible, 30d, 60d, or 90d), and confirm the transaction. Rewards start accruing immediately on every TRON block (approximately every 3 seconds) and can be claimed at any time.
What APY can I earn on USDD staking?+
USDD staking APY depends on your chosen lock period: Flexible staking offers 8% APY with no lock period, 30-day lock delivers 15% APY, 60-day lock earns 22% APY, and the maximum 90-day lock period yields up to 30% APY. These are among the highest rates available for any USD-pegged stablecoin in all of DeFi.
Is USDD staking safe? Are the smart contracts audited?+
Yes. USDD staking smart contracts have been audited by multiple leading blockchain security firms. The protocol is fully non-custodial — your funds are held in audited smart contracts, not by any company. Additionally, the 183%+ collateral ratio provides a significant safety buffer against extreme market conditions. Always verify you are using the official usdd.click domain before connecting your wallet.
Can I unstake USDD early?+
For Flexible staking, you can withdraw at any time with no penalty. For locked staking tiers (30d, 60d, 90d), early withdrawal is possible but incurs a 2% early exit fee and forfeits accrued rewards since the last claim. It is recommended to use flexible staking if you anticipate needing liquidity before the lock period ends.
What wallets are compatible with USDD Protocol?+
USDD Protocol supports TronLink (recommended for TRON-native features), MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Coinbase Wallet, Ledger, Trezor, and all WalletConnect-compatible wallets (200+). For TRON staking and swapping, TronLink or BitKeep provide the best experience. For cross-chain operations, MetaMask or any EVM-compatible wallet is supported.
How do I swap TRX or USDT for USDD?+
Connect your wallet, go to the Swap tab, select your input token (TRX, USDT, ETH, BTC or any supported asset) and select USDD as the output. The protocol automatically finds the best swap route across 500+ DEX pools, shows you the rate and estimated output, and you confirm the swap. TRON swaps finalize in under 3 seconds.
What fees does USDD Protocol charge?+
Staking has no protocol fee — 100% of APY goes to stakers. Swapping charges 0.01%–0.05% routing fee plus the underlying TRON network gas (often under $0.01). Bridging charges 0.14% bridge fee plus destination chain gas. All fees are shown transparently before you confirm. There are no hidden charges, subscription fees, or KYC costs.
How do I bridge USDD from TRON to Ethereum?+
Go to the Bridge tab, select TRON as source chain and Ethereum as destination, enter the amount of USDD to bridge, and click Bridge USDD. The protocol wraps your USDD into a canonical bridged version on Ethereum (ERC-20) and delivers it to your Ethereum wallet. The process takes approximately 3–5 minutes and is fully atomic — either it completes or your funds return.
What is USDD collateral and how is it managed?+
USDD collateral is managed by the TRON DAO Reserve (TDR), a consortium of major blockchain institutions. The reserve holds a diversified basket of TRX, BTC, USDT, and other blue-chip crypto assets. The current collateral ratio exceeds 183%, meaning for every $1 of USDD in circulation there is $1.83+ in reserve assets. All reserve balances are verifiable on-chain and reported transparently.
What is AML check in USDD Protocol?+
The AML (Anti-Money Laundering) check tool allows you to screen any blockchain wallet address or transaction hash for financial crime risk. The tool analyzes the address against databases of known sanctioned entities, mixer services, darknet markets, and flagged exchanges, then returns a risk score from 0 (clean) to 100 (high risk). It supports TRON, Ethereum, BNB Chain, Bitcoin, and Solana addresses.
Is USDD the same as USDT?+
No. USDT (Tether) is a centralized stablecoin issued and controlled by Tether Limited, a company that holds traditional fiat reserves. USDD is a decentralized stablecoin with no central issuer — it is governed by the TRON DAO and backed entirely by on-chain crypto collateral. Both target a $1 peg, but USDD eliminates counterparty risk associated with a central custodian.
Does USDD require KYC verification?+
No. USDD Protocol is a fully permissionless, non-custodial DeFi protocol. No KYC, identity verification, email, phone number, or account registration is ever required. The only thing needed to interact is a compatible crypto wallet. This preserves user privacy and ensures global accessibility.
What is the TRON DAO Reserve (TDR)?+
The TRON DAO Reserve is a decentralized reserve system managed by a consortium of major crypto institutions that collectively safeguard the USDD peg. It functions similarly to a central bank for the USDD stablecoin, deploying reserve assets during peg stress events. Current TDR members include major exchanges and blockchain funds that collectively custody over $3.8B in collateral.
How fast are TRON transactions for USDD?+
TRON processes approximately 2,000 transactions per second with a block finality of about 3 seconds. This means USDD staking, swapping, and claim transactions confirm in under 3 seconds — dramatically faster than Ethereum (12–60 seconds) or Bitcoin (10–60 minutes). TRON also offers extremely low gas fees, often under $0.01 per transaction.
What is the minimum amount to stake USDD?+
There is no minimum staking amount for USDD. You can stake as little as 1 USDD. However, for very small amounts, TRON network gas fees (typically under $0.01) may represent a larger proportion of rewards, so staking meaningful amounts (100 USDD or more) will be most economically efficient.
Can I stake USDD from multiple wallets?+
Yes. Since USDD Protocol is non-custodial and permissionless, you can stake from as many wallets as you like, each with independent lock periods and reward schedules. There is no link between wallets, and each wallet's staking position is managed independently by the smart contract.
How are USDD staking rewards generated?+
USDD staking rewards come from multiple sources: protocol swap fees (0.01%–0.05%) collected on every USDD trade, bridge fees from cross-chain transfers, treasury yield strategies managed by the DAO, and a portion of TRON ecosystem incentives. These revenue streams are pooled and distributed proportionally to stakers based on their share and lock period.
Is USDD available on centralized exchanges?+
Yes, USDD is listed on major centralized exchanges including Binance, HTX (formerly Huobi), OKX, Bybit, Gate.io, and KuCoin. However, to stake and earn the maximum 30% APY, you must interact directly with the USDD Protocol on-chain — CEX custody does not provide staking rewards.
What is the USDD contract address on TRON?+
The official USDD TRC-20 contract address on TRON is TPYmHEhy5n8TCEfYGqW2rPxsghdbiqy5Mb. Always verify contract addresses through the official usdd.click website or TRON's official explorer at tronscan.org before interacting. Never trust contract addresses shared via social media or unsolicited messages.
What happens to my USDD stake if the collateral value drops?+
The 183%+ collateral ratio means collateral would need to lose more than 45% of its total value before USDD peg integrity is threatened. In extreme scenarios, the TRON DAO Reserve deploys additional capital to defend the peg. Your staked USDD remains in smart contract custody and is not directly exposed to collateral price fluctuations — you receive USDD back at maturity plus your earned rewards.
Can I auto-compound my USDD staking rewards?+
Yes. USDD Protocol offers an auto-compound option that automatically re-stakes your earned rewards back into the same pool, maximizing your effective yield through compound interest. With 30% APY and daily compounding, your effective annual yield increases beyond the base rate. Auto-compound can be enabled or disabled at any time from your staking dashboard.
How is USDD different from algorithmic stablecoins like UST?+
USDD is fundamentally different from failed algorithmic stablecoins like Terra's UST. While UST was under-collateralized and relied on reflexive algorithmic mechanics, USDD maintains over 183% in real crypto collateral at all times. This over-collateralization prevents the death-spiral scenarios that destroyed UST. USDD combines algorithmic efficiency with the safety of hard collateral backing.
How do I check my USDD staking position and rewards?+
Connect your wallet to usdd.click and navigate to the Staking dashboard. You will see your total staked USDD, accrued rewards in real time, lock period countdown, unlock date, and estimated maturity value. All data is pulled directly from on-chain smart contract state, so it is always accurate and up to date.
What is slippage in USDD swaps and how should I set it?+
Slippage is the acceptable price difference between your quoted swap rate and the actual executed rate, caused by price movement between quote and confirmation. For USDD/USDT stablecoin swaps, 0.1% slippage is sufficient. For USDD/TRX or volatile pairs, use 0.5%. For large trades or very volatile markets, 1% is recommended. The Auto setting optimizes slippage automatically based on market conditions.
Can I use USDD in other DeFi protocols?+
Yes. USDD is a standard TRC-20 token that works with all TRON-compatible DeFi protocols including SunSwap, JustLend, SUN.io, and many others. On Ethereum and BNB Chain, the bridged USDD (ERC-20) is compatible with Aave, Curve, Uniswap, and other major DeFi platforms. USDD can also be used as collateral to borrow other assets on supported lending protocols.
What AML risk score is considered safe?+
AML risk scores range from 0 to 100. Scores 0–25 are considered Low Risk (green) and safe to transact. Scores 26–60 are Medium Risk (yellow) — proceed with caution and investigate further. Scores 61–100 are High Risk (red) and indicate known associations with sanctioned entities, mixers, darknet markets, or other flagged services. Always decline transactions from high-risk addresses.
Does USDD Protocol have a governance token?+
USDD Protocol is governed through the TRON DAO ecosystem. TRX holders and TRON DAO Reserve members participate in governance decisions including collateral parameters, APY pool allocations, and protocol upgrades. Long-term locked USDD stakers (90-day tier) also receive governance voting rights proportional to their stake, giving the community direct control over protocol parameters.
Is USDD Protocol open source?+
Yes. All USDD Protocol smart contracts are open source and verifiable on TronScan, Etherscan, and BscScan. The protocol frontend code is also open source. This transparency allows security researchers, developers, and the community to independently audit the codebase and verify that the protocol behaves exactly as documented. You can find the source on the official GitHub repository linked in the footer.
What is the difference between USDD staking and USDD liquidity providing?+
USDD staking deposits your USDD into the protocol's staking contract and earns a fixed APY based on your lock period — you receive only USDD back at maturity. Liquidity providing (LP) means depositing USDD paired with another token (e.g. TRX or USDT) into a DEX pool to earn trading fees and LP rewards. LP carries impermanent loss risk if token prices diverge; staking does not.
How do I avoid USDD phishing and scam sites?+
Always access USDD Protocol only through the official domain usdd.click. Bookmark it directly. Never click wallet connection links from Telegram, Discord, Twitter DMs, or email. The official protocol will never DM you first, ask for your seed phrase, or promise unrealistic APY rates beyond 30%. Always double-check the browser URL before connecting your wallet and signing any transaction.
